CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA and PATRAS, GREECE – September 20, 2019 – Advent Technologies CEO Dr. Vasilis Gregoriou will be among the highlight speakers at the International Methanol Vehicle and Fuel Applications Conference, to take place in Chongqing, China, Oct. 11-13.
The Methanol Institute, the Expert Committee for Methanol Vehicle Promotion of the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the China Internal Combustion Engine Society, and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers will organize the International Methanol Vehicle and Fuel Applications Conference and Exposition taking place on 11-13 October 2019 in Chongqing, China at the Chongqing Yuelai Conference Center.
In March 2019, eight ministries of China’s central government led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which is the primary government body on automobile industry in China, issued a promotional policy paper – “Guidance of Developing Methanol Vehicles Applications in China” or “Paper 61” – to deploy methanol-fueled vehicles across China. The policy paper encourages the broad commercial expansion of methanol-fueled vehicles in China – including hybrid and fuel cell vehicles – by the central government supported by significant policies initiatives.
Over 1,000 representatives from China’s automotive industry, officials from local government and state-owned enterprises, professionals from the finance and investor sector, and representatives of the global methanol industry are expected to attend the event. The two-day conference will also feature an extensive exhibition of methanol-fueled vehicles, component suppliers, and fueling infrastructure builders.
Dr. Gregoriou stated: “We are particularly excited by the opportunities offered at the Chinese market and the fact that hybrid electric, methanol fuel cell vehicles are already a reality in China. We are developing strong ties to the Chinese business community and are looking forward to expanding our cooperation.”
Advent Technologies employs one of the world-leading electrochemist teams in new membrane, electrode and catalyst development (MEAs) which are considered the “heart of the fuel cell.” The company has an ambitious R&D and industry collaboration program aimed at bringing significantly down the cost of methanol fuel cells for automotive applications while increasing reliability and life-time.
Advent markets its product line of fuel cells and MEAs for the HT-PEM market under the name Li.F.E. engines (Liquid Fuel Electrochemical Engines).
